The AU says Libyan people are suffering the most in the conflict between militias vying for control of the North African nation.

African Union Commission Chair, Moussa Faki Mahamat has expressed deep concern at the deteriorating situation in Libya.

He says the Libyan people are suffering the most in the conflict between militias vying for control of the North African nation.

United Nations Secretary General António Guterres has also weighed in on the developments in Libya.

Both the United Nations and the AU Commission are calling on the international community to intervene and assist ordinary people in Libya.

Mahamat has called on all those with influence to join efforts with Africa in promoting a rapid and peaceful resolution to the crisis.

The UN has made calls for political dialogue in the country.

Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq says this will take a collective by all in the world to resolve the problems facing Libya.
