Atul Gupta challenges freezing of his R10 million

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed that Atul Gupta is challenging the freezing of the R10 million allegedly paid into his account in connection with the Estina dairy farm project in Vrede in the Free State.

Interpol has been roped-in to track down Atul and Tony Gupta.

Ajay Gupta has been declared a fugitive from justice.

This after he failed to hand himself over, despite his lawyers confirming to the Hawks that he will do so, he has since disappeared.

The Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula, has also issued a warning discouraging people from offering a reward for the arrest of the Gupta brothers.

At the same time, Forensic Fraud Examiner, Paul O’Sullivan, who is one of the people who made a reward offer, says he is in a process of suing the police and justice ministries for what he calls the “Zupta deployees” in the police, the Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority.

“If he’d have taken the time to go to our website he would have seen we make it crystal clear that we were only paying for information and nothing more.”

“We were not offering a bounty as some of the newspapers put it ,we were offering a reward for information that would lead to the arrest of these people and we made it crystal clear that we were working closely within the Hawks who are actually going after the Guptas.”
