At least 32 people have been killed in a number of crashes and other incidents this weekend. In the Free State, 14 people died after two minibus taxis collided head-on while travelling on the road between Reitz and Petrus Steyn.
Four people were injured in the crash:
In North West, two men died when two cars collided outside Potchefstroom. Authorities in the Eastern Cape say at least 12 people have died on the roads in various incidents.
In KwaZulu-Natal, two people were killed in a head-on collision at Van Reenen’s Pass on the N3.
Two people died in an earlier crash also on the N3.
“ It is alledged that the driver of the bakkie was going north and lost control of his vehicle and veered onto oncoming vehicles colliding head-on with a truck. Two counts of culpable homicide are being investigated by the Van Reenen SAPS,” says RTI spokesperson Zinhle Mali regarding the latest N3 incident.
