Arrows add to Chiefs’ woes

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach, Patrick Mabedi says they just need to remain positive. This is after Chiefs loss 3-1 to Golden Arrows during their Absa Premiership match at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban.

Lerato Lamola netted a brace and Velemseni Ndwandwe added a third towards the end. Chiefs’ consolation goal came from Bernard Parker who scored his 50th goal since joined the Glamour Boys in 2011.

The security was very tight on this match following pitch invasion by club fans this past Saturday during a 2-0 loss to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Mabedi was in charge of Amakhosi, following Steve Khompela’s resignation in the wake of Saturday’s events.

“It happened quickly and I think we just need to adapt and go on. But I think it was a trauma to the players, I think the players were affected. Overall I think we just need to accept what happened. Overall we are professional, we need to just keep going, and though it affected us we just need to be positive,” says Mabedi.

This win moved Arrows to the 9th position on the log with 34 points, while Amakhosi remained fourth with 42 points.

Clinton Larsen men will look to book their top eight spot when hosting bottom-rooted Platinum Stars on Saturday at Princess Magogo stadium.
