Armed robbers have made off with an undisclosed amount of money during a cash-in-transit heist in Giyani, Limpopo.
Police’s Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says unknown number of armed robbers ambushed a security guard who had just collected money from a shop.
Mojapelo says the Fidelity security guard was pointed with fire-arms and forced to open two canisters containing money.
Police say no one was injured. Police say the armed robbers shot randomly before fleeing in several vehicles, including a white Audi A-4. A security van and a vehicle of a passer-by were hit with stray bullets.
Police say the registration number of a white Audi was found to be false. Empty cartridges of R-5 rifle and 9-millimetre pistol were found on the scene. Investigations are continuing.
