The National Chairperson of the African People’s Convention (APC) Ernest Hlathi says they are on a campaign to grow the membership of the organisation.

Hlathi has been speaking during a meeting with the APC’s Mpumalanga provincial leadership in Mbombela on Sunday.

The meeting is aimed at looking at ways to strengthen the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He says they adopted Saturdays as APC days where their officials are engaging communities on various issues.

Hlathi says the party is focusing on having its candidates representing APC in provincial legislatures across the country.

“We are definitely sure that come 2019 general elections the footprint of the APC would be there in the Mpumalanga legislature. The question now is how many seats, not whether APC will be represented, because that one I think we have passed that phase. In-terms of the numbers and the responses that we get when we go and meet our people – we are getting a positive response. We have just launched the provincial executive council  in Northern Cape.”
