The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has asked another mayor in the province to take special leave.
The mayor of the Newcastle municipality in the northern part of the province, Dr Ntuthuko Mahlabas is charged with the murder of the late ANC Youth League eMalahleni Regional Deputy Chair Wandile Ngubeni.
ANC Provincial Secretary, Mdumiseni Ntuli said at a media briefing in Durban that eThekwini Municipality executive council member, Themba Mthembu has also been asked to step aside.
On Sunday, eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede was also requested to take special leave.
She is out on R50 000 bail on fraud and corruption charges that are related to a R208 million waste removal tender in the eThekwini Metro.
