Another bombshell hits Cricket SA as acting CEO resigns

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Another bombshell has hit Cricket South Africa with the resignation of its acting CEO Dr. Jacques Faul. He resigned on the same day that the organisation revealed that its president Chris Nenzani had stepped down on Saturday – a day after COO Naasei Appiah had been fired.

Faul took up the position at the end of last year after the six-month suspension of Thabang Moroe pending the outcome of an investigation into alleged misconduct.

Faul was seconded from the Titans in December 2019 and was due to return to his role with the franchise on September 15, but has opted to leave his post four weeks early.

He did not disclose the reasons for his decision. It leaves the beleaguered federation leaderless.

An acting CEO is expected to be named soon, while the search for a permanent CEO can only get underway once the case of suspended Thabang Moroe has been resolved.

The deadline for the release of the independent report into Moroe wasn’t met and parts of the report have yet to be made public.
