Another ANC branch delegate murdered in KZN

African National Congress (ANC) branch delegate from ward seven at Mkhambathini under the party’s Moses Mabhida Region in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands has been ambushed and killed.

Thirty four-year-old Lungisani Mnguni, the former branch chairperson was due to represent his branch at the ANC’s national conference in December.

Apart from being active in politics, Mnguni also operated a school feeding scheme.

Mnguni is the second grass roots leader to be killed in this rural village within a space of months.

In August, an ANC ward councillor was shot dead just a few meters from where Mnguni was murdered.

Police Spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.

“The suspects fled in their get away vehicle. At this stage the suspects are unknown and investigation is still continuing and the motive for the attack is still unknown at this stage and we are appealing to anyone who might have information about the suspects to contact the local police station.”
