The eighth Cape Town International Animation Festival, is underway in the Mother City Town and has drawn big names in the global industry.

Peter Ramsey, director of the recent Golden Globe winner for Best Animated Feature, “Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse”, is among a star-studded line-up of speakers which forms part of this year’s installment.

The event is a platform for local and global industry role players to engage. It’s the only fest of its kind on the African continent and offers a series of workshops, master classes and film screenings.

The festival is also an opportunity for aspiring animation film-makers to interact with global industry role-players.

“The more specific and the more compassionate you are, the more real it’s going to feel and ultimately the more real something feels on screen, the more anybody in the world is going to connect it. I think to get the texture of a real life, you have to have real specificity and compassion and how you are showing these characters,” says Ramsey.
