Anna Van der Breggen of the Netherlands is the new cycling world champion. The Dutch rider won gold in the elite women’s road race at the UCI Road World Championship – clocking four hours nine minutes and 57 seconds.

Defending champion Annemiek van Vleuten also from the Netherlands took silver, with Italian Longo Borghini winning bronze.
The South African pair of Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio and Kerry Jonker both finished outside the top 30.
Moolman-Pasio finished 57th.
