Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town speaks out against attacks on migrants across the world

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town Thabo Makgoba has used his Easter sermon to speak out against attacks on migrants across the world.

Preaching at St George’s Cathedral, Makgoba condemned the aggression of some countries such as Russia which has invaded Ukraine.

Makgoba also said the darkness in the world is very real.

He reflected on the circumstances of those who are affected by domestic abuse and gender-based violence here on home soil and those who live in war torn countries like Ukraine and also reflected on strife in Cabo Delgado in Mozambique.

Makgoba says though it is difficult to talk about, violence must be addressed. He used his sermon to call on people not to remain silent when it comes to the injustices people face here and around the world.

He also asked people to not dismiss the pain and struggles of people but to instead embrace them.
