The conference delegates have observed a moment of silence in respect of the deceased.

ANC NEC member Thoko Didiza has paid tribute to the deceased, “We want to dip our banner in commemoration of comrade Joyce Mashamba. I’ll ask our comrades to stand as we observe a moment of silence. We also remember at this time comrade ambassador Billy Modise and comrade Sibusiso Radebe who was a member of parliament and a former youth leaguer.”

Limpopo ANC chairperson and Premier Stan Mathabatha has described Mashamba as a revolutionary.

67 year old Mashamba died after a long illness this week. Mathabatha was also speaking during the party’s provincial elective conference.
