The African National Congress is yet to respond to letters written by National Executive Committee members, Doctor Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Lindiwe Sisulu, complaining about Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula.

This follows tweets by Mbalula in which he attacked and accused, without evidence, certain female leaders of being thieves.

Mbalula took to Twitter and accused fellow NEC member, Dlamini-Zuma, of gunning for the top job in the ANC just to create a family dynasty in the ANC.

This angered the CoGTA minister and she then ordered that this must be dealt with by the ANC top-six officials and the NEC. It remains to be seen, what form of action the ANC NEC will take against Mbalula on the latest developments on social media.

Mbalula has since apologised to the CoGTA Minister for his utterances.

The ANC top-six met on Monday but it’s not clear whether the issue has been discussed. Dlamini-Zuma had handed over her concerns about Mbalula to the party’s top-six and the NEC.

While Mbalula apologized, he expressed concern over the way Lindiwe Sisulu handled the matter. He says he had hoped it would be sorted out – away from the Secretary General’s office.

Meanwhile, a National Executive Committee meeting that was scheduled to take place this past weekend was postponed. It was expected to attend the issue involving Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula and his recent Twitter rants.
