ANC working towards eradicating racism

The African National Congress Subcommittee on Social Transformation says it is working on creating national identity as a measure to eliminate racism in the country.

Speaking at the discussion forum on social transformation held in Luthuli House, Johannesburg, the Subcommittee’s chairperson and Human Settlements Minister Lindiwe Sisulu says some recurring patterns of apartheid need to be reversed.

“We would like to deal with the issue of the creation of a national identity that we are African, that all of us belong to South Africa. Hopefully by the end of 2030, we will no longer have somebody serving us in a restaurant saying “two blacks” sitting somewhere. We would like to make sure that we can have a reversal of apartheid spatial patterns that continue to reinforce exclusion,” she says.
