The African National Congress (ANC) hopes it will come out with a united voice on the land question after holding a summit in Boksburg east of Johannesburg at the weekend.

Senior party members attended the two-day land summit at which the expropriation of land without compensation was discussed.

On Saturday, party president Cyril Ramaphosa told the summit that there was a clear social imperative to the issue of land.

He said land was about dignity, identity and security adding that expropriating it was the only way to alleviate poverty in South Africa.
