Some of the delegates will not attend after courts ruled that some branches were found to have contravened the party's constitution during their branch general meetings.

The African National Congress (ANC)  NEC has just came out of a meeting. The 54th conference in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg Johannesburg is due to start shortly.

The party’s top brass has agreed to abide by the  courts rulings.

Political analyst Zubeda Jaffer from University of the Free State says this will mean that some delegates will be barred from voting.

The ruling party will hold a press conference shortly to announce the outcomes of the last minute meeting. Following that President Jacob Zuma will officially open the conference.
