Intervention measures to bolster economic growth and reduce high levels of poverty and unemployment are expected to be revealed when ANC President Jacob Zuma delivers the ANC’s January 8 statement.

The celebrations will take place at Phokeng in North West on Saturday.

The ANC is celebrating its 104th anniversary on Friday and 120 000 people are expected to attend the event.

The birthday bash comes at a time when concerns are mounting over the state of the economy.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has acknowledged the challenges facing the ANC-led government.

He says: “The economy is not in good shape. We’ve been through the worst and we’ve survived. We want to see greater growth.”
“The high levels of unemployment and poverty are not what can please any government in the world, he adds.
