ANC succession discussion comes up at PAP

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The African National Congress (ANC) succession debate has found its way onto the floor of the Pan African Parliament which opened in Midrand on Monday.

The Economic Freedom Fighters’ Floyd Shivambu was not impressed raising a ‘point of order’ opposing the move.

King Bhungane III, of AmaHlubi, Kingdom of Embo, was invited as a guest of honour to deliver a message of solidarity with the African Parliament, but instead he seized the opportunity to advise South Africa to elect Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as ANC President.

“South Africa should elect Dr Nkosazana Zuma as the next president. It’s about time we had women in leadership and the time is now.”

Shivambu says: “I am rising on a point of order President, I am Floyd from South Africa, and you cannot bring the divisive politics of the ANC to this platform. We don’t even know the kingdom that you’re talking about, we shouldn’t be taken advantage of.”
