ANC should not shy away from white monopoly capital: Mthethwa

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The African National Congress (ANC) subcommittee on Strategy and Tactics says the movement should not shy away from calling white monopoly capital what it is.

It will propose policies to strengthen radical socio economic transformation and to bring the movement closer to its alliance partners and the masses.

The ANC’s strategy and tactics for liberation are known and hailed the world over, but it admits it has yet to impress in government, saying its enemy now is the movement itself and an economy transforming is too slowly.

Monopoly capital in South Africa is white, we cannot ignore the colonial influence in South Africa, said Nathi Mthethwa.

Among others Mthethwa says the strategies proposed should stem illicit financial flows and curb high youth unemployment.

The ANC wants to find its way back to the masses through civil society and its alliance partners by building integrity.

Strategy and Tactics Chairperson Nathi Mthethwa says: “How did these political parties weaken Cosatu and the ANC, we should not only build capacity for governance.”

Last week the organisational renewal subcommittee said it proposes that leadership should be elected by ordinary members not delegates at conference so the strategy and tactics subcommittee has a lot of work to do to raise consciousness.

“Up to now all the sub-committees are unanimous. The last NEC sub-committee has presented its proposals, now activities move to Nasrec for the changing of the guard.”
