ANC slammed for voting for N America to hold 2026 World Cup

The African National Congress (ANC) says it was acting consistent with the party’s ethos when it decided not to cast its vote for Morocco to host the 2026 World Cup.

While the Democratic Alliance (DA) says South Africa should have voted for fellow African country and should avoid using politics in sport. The opposition party further argues that should Morocco have won 2026 bid it would have been an African victory yet again.

Russia a part of BRICS  group, a G20 member is currently hosting the soccer World Cup. The country struggled to highlight its hosting of the World Cup and the western media shunned the story due to Geo-politics.

Now, here at home politicians have weighed in on the 2018 Russia World Cup. The South African Football Association (Safa) backed the North America world cup bid for 2026.

Even though North America will be hosting the 2026 World Soccer spectacular in Mexico, Canada and United States of America leaders of these countries have in recent time had frosty relations.

Politics aside ordinary South Africans will also be enjoying the beautiful game.

Many have made a commitment to root for African teams to lift the gold-plated Fifa World Cup winners’ trophy.
