ANC should take responsibility for implicated members: Analyst

Political analyst Ralph Mathekga says that the ANC has a higher number of people who manipulated their positions and the trust the party had in them. This comes after bribery allegations were levelled against some senior ANC officials in the State Capture Commission of Inquiry.

The ANC needs to take some responsibility for this, says Mathekga.

The ANC says however, they will not react to State capture or point at individuals named as they will await a full response from those implicated.

“One way or another, the ANC has to take responsibility for this. Those people, had it not been for the deployment by the ANC, they would not been there. The whole idea that the ANC is not on trial is not enough, the idea that the individuals have to fend for themselves that is not enough,” says Mathekga.

“The bribes happened during the course of their deployment by the ANC, therefore for the party to come and say these individuals should account on their own – yes they should account on their own for the sake of the law, but within the ANC as well, there has to be collective responsibility,” he adds.
