The ANC looks set to lose control of Emfuleni Local Municipality in Gauteng. With 72% of voting districts declared, the party has garnered just 38.73% of the vote.
In 2016, the ANC won control of the municipality with 55.63% of the vote, so the results so far this election indicate a significant drop in support.
The DA currently has 28.21% percent of the vote, a rise in support from the 24.65% the party had in 2016.
The EFF’s fortunes have also improved so far, with the party standing in third place with 15.19% support. In 2016 the party had had 12.2%
