Tasks for new NEC

The incoming NEC already has tasks before it – such as deciding on the appropriate action in dealing with the party Members of Parliament who voted in favour of Section 89 independent panel report in the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the party has deferred the adoption of commission reports to January next year. This is after the number of delegates decreased substantially and prevented the conference from adopting the reports which require a two-thirds majority to be passed.

The commissions are a critical aspect of the ruling party’s conferences as they guide the work of government and inform the policies that will affect South Africans. -Additional reporting by Zoleka Qodashe
