The African National Congress (ANC) has secured the Lesedi Local Municipality in Heidelberg, Gauteng.

With the 100% votes captured, the ANC obtained 50.43%, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) at 20.32% and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) at 13.53%.

In 2016, the ANC won the majority of seats obtaining 62% of the votes.

Now it appears they have managed to retain the municipality. Gauteng IEC Provincial Manager Nthabi Tsipane says, “Lesedi Local Municipality has got 40 voting stations and all of them have been concluded. They have captured all their voting stations and basically, they are done.  And in Lesedi we are seeing the ANC leading the pack followed by the DA.”.
