The ANC has caused a stir on social media networking site Twitter. It was inundated with comments after the ANC delegation announced nominations of the party’s Top 6 leadership today. The ruling party is currently holding its 53rd National Conference in Mangaung.
The buzz within the conference venue easily translated into cyberspace. Tweets were alarming and for most of the afternoon#Mangaung,Tokyo Sexwale,Deputy President,ANC,Kgalema Motlantheremained trending topics. Twitter offers 10 trending topics and what was visible today is that seven out of that number has a relation to the conference.
Amongst the more popular tweets are those that made particular emphasis on the point that Deputy President Kgalema Mothlante is to challenge President Jacob Zuma for presidency of the ANC.
However, the “rush hour traffic” on the internet wasn’t limited to Twitter. At one stage theSABC News’ facebook pagebecame a discussion point for everyone. Live updates from the SABC Digital News team certainly gave topics for the masses to engage on.
