The African National Congress (ANC) Mangaung regional National Working Committee (NWC) held in Bloemfontein has been postponed. This after ANC disgruntled members were prevented from entering the meeting.

The meeting was aimed at assessing the readiness of the party ahead of next weekend provincial elective conference.

Marshalls scuffled with a disgruntled group of ANC members outside the venue. The group claims that they were denied access to the meeting.

They then blockaded nearby roads with stones and trees, saying the NWC has failed them.

Police had to intervene.

ANC disgruntled group’s Monnapule Ntamo says: “The meeting is illegal and the NWC failed to address our concerns as branch members. It’s a fact that we will go to court again to stop the conference.”

However, NWC deployees didn’t show up as expected.

“The branches feel that the NWC should come and address them. It’s only then we will know what our position is. But all I can say we are still waiting for them to come,” says Mangaung Regional Chairperson, Mxolisi Siyonzana.

The disgruntled group say they intend to go to court to halt the provincial conference scheduled for next weekend in Welkom.
