ANC refutes claims of inciting Hermanus protests

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape has strongly denied allegations that its member of the provincial legislature Cameron Dugmore is behind violent protests in Hermanus.

This follows the allegations of Democratic Alliance (DA) Western Cape leader Bonginkosi Madikizela who’s accused Dugmore of inciting the protests.

Various buildings, including a satellite police, were set alight during land grab protests over the past few days.

Acting ANC Provincial Chairperson Khaya Magaxa explains.

“This baseless fabrication by the DA against the ANC and comrade Dugmore is an attempt to hide DA’s failures in Overstrand for over ten years to release land in Hermanus for backyard dweller. The ANC is very clear on all campaigns for land and housing must be conducted in terms of our constitution and the laws of our country we condemn land grabs without reservation.”
