The newly-elected African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Executive Committee in Mpumalanga has appointed the party’s Deputy Provincial Chairperson, Speedy Mashilo, to act as Treasurer.

This follows Mandla Msibi’s stepping aside after his election in last week’s provincial conference.

Msibi is facing charges of murder and attempted number.

ANC Provincial Secretary Muzi Chirwa says Mashilo will continue to act until Msibi’s court case has been finalised.

“The provincial executive committee of Mpumalanga has taken a decision to second comrade Speedy Mashilo who is the Deputy Chairperson of the province to act in the position of the provincial Treasurer following the stepping aside of comrade Mandla Msibi. Comrade Speedy Mashilo, the Deputy Chairperson, will act as a provincial Treasure up until such time the issue surrounding comrade Mandla Msibi is resolved in one way or the other.”

Pule Mabe on Mpumalanga Treasurer Msibi stepping aside, Bathabile Dlamini’s fate:

On Monday Msibi was requested to step aside.

The ANC national officials wrote a letter to Msibi, stating that he must write a letter, alerting them he will be stepping aside from his position which he has only occupied for a few days.

The ANC in Mpumalanga held its 13th Provincial elective conference last weekend which saw Mandla Ndlovu becoming the chairperson, his deputy, Speedy Mashilo.
