ANC in Parly welcomes Mkhwebane’s report on Minister Brown

The African National Congress (ANC) Study Group on Public Enterprises in Parliament says it welcomes Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s report which found that Public Enterprises Minister Lynn Brown violated the Executive Ethics Code.

The study group says it’s confident that Ramaphosa will act against Brown.

The findings of the Public Protector follow a complaint from DA MP Natasha Mazzone.

Mkhwebane investigated Brown to establish when she deliberately or inadvertently misled Parliament in a written reply when she claimed ignorance of contracts of engagement between Eskom and Trillian Capital.

The Public Protector found that the minister has misled Parliament as the contracts were already concluded.

Mkhwebane wants President Cyril Ramaphosa to take action against Brown within 14 day, for violating the Executive Code of Ethics.

ANC Whip in the Public Enterprises Committee Zukiswa Rantho says they trust that President Ramaphosa will implement the Public Protector’s remedial action.

But Brown has denied any wrongdoing saying she is seeking legal advice.
