ANC NWC meeting to tackle North West problems

Reading Time: 2 minutes

ANC Deputy Secretary General, Jessie Duarte, says the National Working Committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss the situation in the North West province.

This as a Ministerial Task Team, appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa, looks into the state of governance in the province.

The team includes ministers Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Nhlanhla Nene and Aaron Motswaledi.

Communities in the North West have been calling for Premier Supra Mahumapelo to resign. Duarte says the ANC has been engaging their members in the province.

“On Wednesday we will meet to discuss what is in the best interest of the ANC and what we need to do to correct the situation in the North West. Our process is going to be restricted to how the organisation corrects itself. Many ANC cadres over the years have been marginalised and left out of the ANC in the NW by one or other sections who have power at the time. Ours is to find a way to bring everybody back and make sure everybody works together. It’s not an easy task but we are up to the task and we will make it happen.”
