Reading Time: 2 minutes

The second leg of the 9th African National Congress (ANC) North West Provincial Conference has resumed after a brief recess earlier on Sunday morning.

Voting for the 30 additional members to serve on the provincial executive committee was concluded in the morning session. Currently, delegates have converged into various commissions discussing policy issues, while the counting of votes is underway.

Later the plenary is expected to resume, for the announcement of the results. It will be followed by the conference declaration and the inaugural address by the newly elected North West provincial chairperson, Nono Maloyi.

Later on Sunday afternoon, the conference will be officially closed by ANC Treasurer General, Paul Mashatile.

Earlier, the ANC warned delegates who have intentions to disturb the second leg of the conference to reconsider their decision.

There were reports that some delegates who went to court to interdict the conference have not shown up at the two-day gathering which ends on Sunday at the Rustenburg Civic Centre.

ANC National Elective Conference (NEC) members deployed to the party’s 9th Provincial Conference say everyone who is accredited and who chooses to stay away from the ANC conference is breaking the party’s constitution.

Although having been accredited to participate in the conference, which started two weeks ago, some North West ANC delegates have decried the fact that some of their friends were barred from attending.
