ANC needs to introspect, commit to correcting its mistakes: Snuki Zikalala

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The ANC Veterans’ League has emphasised the importance of the party humbling itself and admitting its mistakes to the people of South Africa.

Speaking to the SABC at the ANC national elective conference underway at Nasrec in Johannesburg, Veterans’ League president Snuki Zikalala says the ruling party needs to introspect and commit itself to correcting its mistakes.

“Because we have to say what went wrong and how can we fix what went wrong, because we have the best economic and social policies in the world. But we have failed to employ people who are skilled, knowledgeable and who are committed in ensuring that those policies are implemented. That’s what we call self-introspection and we have to go back to the society and say – society we apologise we made mistakes. Can you give us another chance to govern the country on your behalf, because we govern on behalf of the society?”

Earlier Zikalala says they are planning to meet with the party presidential front-runners. The aim of the meeting was to make sure that both candidates are committed to ensuring that the party’s reputation is not damaged by what is likely to be a very close race between Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
