African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Ace Magashule says the party has not discussed the matter of former president Jacob Zuma who is about to be summoned to appear in court.

His statement comes after the Hawks confirmed that Zuma would this coming week be issued with summons to appear in the High Court in Durban.

Reports say he is likely to appear in court on the 6th of April.

The NPA will prosecute Zuma on 16 charges of corruption, money laundering and racketeering.

The charges relate to the controversial multi-billion-rand arms deal.

Earlier in March, NPA boss Shaun Abrahams said there were reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution of Zuma.

Magashule addressed the media in Cape Town on the outcomes of the ANC NEC meeting in the Mother City.

“No we have not discussed former president Zuma, we have just discussed that in terms of our values and integrity and the credibility of the ANC. We are making a plea to all members of the party to behave and act in a particular way which is in line with the values and traditions and culture of the African National Congress.”

“We have noted that the charges has been reinstated against Jacob Zuma and we are saying to everybody a person is presumed innocent until and unless proven otherwise in a court of law. We not defending and protecting anything.”
