Some ANC members working with opposition to remove me: Mahumapelo

Reading Time: < 1 minute

North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo says some African National Congress (ANC) Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) are conniving with the opposition to remove him as the premier. He says this is because he supported Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to be ANC president during last year’s Elective Conference.

Mahumapelo has been addressing scores of ANC supporters in Mahikeng. He says some MPLs are angered by his decision to institute forensic investigations in some government departments.

A motion of no confidence in him, brought by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has been postponed as the EFF prepares to approach the court to have it conducted through a secret ballot.

Mahumapelo says some ANC MPLs are using the EFF to fight internal ANC battles. “ There are individuals, who are going around using the name of the president and the outcome of Nasrec, who want to remove other members of the ANC, particularly, those who were supporting comrade Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. Now, that is against the discipline and the prescripts of the African National Congress.”
