ANC members reminded of their mandate

Reading Time: 2 minutes

ANC NEC member Lindiwe Zulu says members of the party must bear in mind that the main purpose of being a party member is to serve the people and deal with the transformation of society. Zulu says the organisational review deals with the building of the party as a movement for transformation, particularly at this point in their struggle. She was speaking as the ANC enters the second day of its policy conference at Gallagher Estates in Midrand, Gauteng. She says going forward, “we are likely to see an ANC that is forthright in the challenges that it faces in terms of its own internal problems”. In the Free State, concerned ANC members have filed court papers in a bid to nullify the provincial elective conference which was held in Parys over the weekend. They argue that processes were not followed when the conference was convened and that some of the regions were excluded. Former Free State ANC treasurer Mxolisi Dukwana was expected to challenge premier Ace Magashule for the leadership position. The matter will be heard in the Free State High Court tomorrow. ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe and re-elected Free State ANC chairperson have been cited as respondents.
