ANC member in Limpopo calls for recount of NEC votes

Limpopo African National Congress (ANC) member Boy Mamabolo says that he will request a recount of the additional members of the ANC National Executive Committee – alleging that the process was rigged.

Mamabolo unsuccessfully stood for nomination for the NEC at last month’s elective conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg.

He alleges that the process of electing the 80 members lacked transparency.

“Every candidate in the top six was allowed to send an observer to observe the election counting and so on, but in our case we were not allowed to do so. So, my concern is that these results were also announced after the president had closed the conference.”

“Now you cannot expect the results of an ANC conference to be announced after a programme has been closed. We are not happy about the results and hence we are saying we request a recount and we are doing that politely because we do not want to take a legal route of going to court,” adds Mamabolo.
