African National Congress (ANC) President Jacob Zuma says the promises contained in the party’s elections manifesto, are realistic and achievable.

Zuma launched the party’s manifesto in Dutywa in the Eastern Cape on Sunday. He urged thousands of supporters to campaign towards a landslide victory for the ANC.

The party also has its sights firmly on next week’s 14 by-elections in the province, 12 of them are at the Mbhashe Local Municipality.
The ANC seats became vacant after the party terminated the councillors’ memberships.

Zuma said, “Starting with these by-elections, we shouldn’t leave anything for the other smaller parties, let’s go out there and win each and every ward.”

Looking ahead to the general elections, the President warned supporters against falling for the charms of newly formed parties which were “formed by ill-disciplined people who got expelled by parties they previously served”.

“There’s only one party that can be called a party for the people,” said Zuma

He said the party’s manifesto is a well thought out and well researched action plan, adding that gender equity will be given serious consideration when the party decides on candidates for Parliament.
