The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has called on voters to kick the African National Congress (ANC) out of power, as the party can no longer be trusted.

Launching his party’s election manifesto in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, UDM leader Bantu Holomisa says the ruling party had failed to tackle corruption, address education, health, infrastructure, crime and environmental issues.

He says the ANC has lost touch with its voters and betrayed them. Holomisa pledged that the UDM will change many things if it is voted into power.

“We shall invest in professionalising the civil services. The appointment of director general will be the responsibility of the Department of Public Service. Secondly, is the training of staff of bodies responsible for our safety and security like police, intelligence and military. Their state of readiness must always be guaranteed. The people of the country deserve better – a party that will put them first,” says Holomisa.
