The ANC’s Head of elections, Fikile Mbalula, says the party’s Workshop is not the launch of its manifesto, but rather a consultative process.

He was speaking during a media briefing in Irene, south of Pretoria on Monday.

The ANC is hosting a consultative workshop that will draft the party’s election manifesto for 2019.

Mbalula says the ANC is working to resolve internal struggles.

“We as the ANC don’t only want society to view us as people obsessed with our own intra-organisational struggles. There is no organisation that does not have party squabbles, and the ANC is committed to resolving those issues.”

“We expect our public representatives to be on the ground fixing people’s problems – and part of that running with the manifesto process, which says to our people, what is your interest in the ANC manifesto process? Because the participation to shape this manifesto is overwhelming, and we are encouraged by that, and that is our focus going forward.”
