ANC in parly refutes allegations of flawed public hearings on land

The African National Congress (ANC) caucus in Parliament has refuted allegations that the process of public hearings on the issue of amending the Constitution to allow for the expropriation of land without compensation was flawed.

The caucus has welcomed the decision by the Constitutional Review Committee to amend the constitution to provide for the expropriation of land without compensation.

The report will now go to the National Assembly and the NCOP. The decision, by majority vote, follows months of public hearings and written submissions.

The ANC, Economic Freedom Fighters, and National Freedom Plus supported the proposal while the Democratic Alliance, Cope, the Freedom Front Plus, and Inkatha Freedom Party opposed it.
