ANC in North West completes coalition engagements

The African National Congress (ANC) in the North West says it has completed engagements with the political parties it plans to enter into coalitions in three of the province’s hung municipalities.

The party could not secure an outright majority in the JB Marks Local Municipality in Potchefstroom, the Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality and the Rustenburg Local Municipality.

The ANC says it will formally be signing coalition agreements with a number of political parties on Friday.

The signing ceremony is expected to be held  in Rustenburg.

Among the main parties the ANC has entered into a coalition agreement with, is the Forum 4 Service Delivery, Patriotic Alliance and independent candidates.

Co-ordinator for the ANC Interim Provincial Committee, Hlomane Chauke says, “We started the engagement led by national office  deployees of the ANC- and that team has interacted with a number of parties to form a coalition with them- and I think we got a very positive response.”
