Reading Time: < 1 minute

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State says it will to go ahead with its provincial elective conference this coming weekend despite continuing disputes in close to 50 provincial branches.

Disgruntled ANC members earlier called on the party not to go ahead with the conference.

ANC Free State Spokesperson Thabo Meeko says the Provincial General Council (PGC) will not affect its elective conference this week.

The province currently has 309 branches, where 297 received clean audits.

It’s understood that only 260 have gone through the processes of nominations through its Branch General Meetings.

The PGC will count the votes from branches later this afternoon, despite still dealing with disputes at branches.
