The African National Congress (ANC) in the City of Ekurhuleni has written a letter to the Speaker of the council, Raymond Dhlamini, to table a motion of no confidence against Executive Mayor Tania Campbell.

In the letter, the party accuses the mayor of failing to ensure equitable and sustainable service delivery and further accuses her of neglecting township areas.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Speaker in Ekurhuleni has confirmed the receipt of the motion of no confidence against the Executive Mayor.

In a statement, the Speaker says the programming committee will determine the admissibility of the motion based on the criteria provided per the Standing Rules of Council.

The party wants the speaker to call for an Extraordinary Council Meeting on the 26th of October.

In the City of Johannesburg, the DA’s Dr. Mpho Phalaste was recently deposed, and the ANC’s Dada Morero was elected mayor.

ANC Spokesperson Lesego Makhubela says the party alongside its allies were confident that they would win back Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.
