The ANC executive committee in the Eastern Cape is meeting Monday morning to collate information from branch general meetings on nominations for next month’s conference.
The deadline to conclude nominations for the preferred candidates for the party’s top six was extended to Saturday as a number of branches had not yet sat.
Provincial spokesperson, Gift Ngqondi says only after Monday’s meeting will they know who the province’s preferred candidates would be.
“At least three regions, Amathole, Nelson Mandela Bay and Joe Gqabi had not had their BGMs by the first deadline of 11th November.
The executive found that the regional leadership was behind the delays,” says Ngqondi.
