ANC delegates to vote for NEC members

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Delegates at the AFrican National Congress’  (ANC) 54th National Conference will now vote for 80 members of the party’s National Executive Committee or NEC.

It’s Day Four of the conference being held at Nasrec, south of Johannesburg.

There’ll be great interest in whether the same patterns emerge as with the election of the party’s Top Six leadership Monday night.

The NEC is the highest decision making body of the ANC between conferences And as delegates vote they will try and find an intergenerational mix and expertise.

After the women lost with the top six dominated by men, delegates will try to ensure that the same picture doesn’t play itself out in the NEC.

The other issue to watch is whether KwaZulu-Natal the biggest province which is not represented at the officials level will have some sizeable representation at the NEC.
