The African National Congress (ANC) remains committed to ensuring access to high-speed broadband internet.  This was revealed on Monday at the 54th African National Congress National Elective Conference underway in Nasrec, Johannesburg.

According to the party’s Organisational Report presented by former Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe, more than 360 000 South African have access to free internet in libraries.

Internet access remains one of the challenges facing South Africans.

Linked to this is the cost of data.

Earlier in 2017, people took to social media to voice their discontent about data costs through the hashtag #DataMustfall.

Data costs in South Africa remain among some of the most expensive in the world. The hashtag #DataMustFall campaign led to network companies including Vodacom and Cell C reducing their out of bundle prices.
