Reading Time: 2 minutes

The ANC centenary flame has finally arrived at Luthuli House in Johannesburg after traversing all the nine provinces. It was received by the top six officials that include President Jacob Zuma and his deputy Kgalema Motlanthe. It all started in January with a lecture in each province with the first in the Free State and the last was the Northern Cape. Accepting the flame ANC president said it has created a lot of interest. “In each province that it went, it raised emotion to ANC members. It made ANC people remember who they are and where they come from. It revived the memories about who we are, what we are. And also made it clear that the ANC is not just another political party, it is a movement of the people of South Africa, established differently by the people of South Africa faced with a national challenge, that is what the ANC is all about,” Zuma said. Early this year, Zuma – surrounded by the ANC’s top six leadership, lit the centenary torch to trace the roots of the movement while the top leadership symbolised another 100 years of the movement at the Waaihoek Church in Bloemfontein. The ANC is one of the oldest liberation movements in Africa.
