ANC announces NEC members

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The ANC has announced its new 80 member NEC at its Mangaung Conference. President Jacob Zuma will give the closing address shortly afterward. Among the NEC members are Nkosanzana Dlamini-Zuma, Malusi Gigaba, Lindiwe Sisulu, Collins Chabane, Jeff Radebe and Naledi Pandor.

Meanwhile, the ANC says it wants transparency regarding private donations in order to avoid the risk of abuse. Newly elected ANC Treasurer-General Zweli Mkhize says the party cannot accept private donations with conditions. He’s been speaking at the ANC’s national conference in Mangaung in the Free State. Mkhize says the ANC has over the years received donations from various sources within and outside the country.

“The standard point on private donations is that it’s a free donation that is linked to nothing else. It has no conditions attached and if it’s got any conditions attached or any benefits anticipated then it can’t be taken. Everyone who makes a donation, makes a donation under those conditions so that nobody can make a contribution and come back to say: you remember that contribution, because of that I want this”. It’s not a transactional process.”
