Political Analyst, Lebohang Pheko says the African National Congress (ANC) should accelerate its efforts to correct itself if it’s to regain the votes it lost in the last local government elections.

Her statement comes as the Hawks call an urgent meeting with dozens of intended beneficiaries of the Estina dairy farm project in Vrede in the Free State on Saturday.

The meeting follows raids on the offices of outgoing Free State premier Ace Magashule and the Agriculture Department in Bloemfontein on Friday.

More than R 220 million meant for the project has been paid to companies linked to the politically-connected Gupta family.

Pheko says the party must hold those that it puts in public office to account.

Meanwhile, the ANC says the law must be allowed to take its course in the matter of the Estina dairy farm project.
